Five First Steps to Facebook Fame

Attracting perfect customers and building buzz about your biz are fun and fulfilling activities you can do for free on Facebook, the most popular social network in the world. Boasting over 300 million users who linger a whopping 20 minutes per day, Facebook is an important business asset to any smart entrepreneur. Consider Facebook like your online Chamber of Commerce... you can meet people, socialize, organize, contribute, communicate, congregate, and promote yourself and your favorite causes to potentially millions of people across the world. Here are some steps you will want to take now to get started using Facebook.

STEP 1: Set up a good profile. Make sure to upload a recent photo of you, and include some details on what your personal interests are. On Facebook people want to get to know you as a person so give them what they're looking for. Also make sure to include all of your educational information and past employers so that folks you knew at those places can find you. Connecting with old school chums and work buddies is extremely enriching and can often lead to good referrals too!

STEP 2: Find Friends. There are a variety of ways you can find friends who are already on Facebook. First, have Facebook search your email for your peeps and request to connect with all who come up. You can do searches in Facebook by school and graduating year, and by employer to connect with folks you've met along the way. You can also connect with folks you don't yet know, but who share common interests with you, or who live in your region. Make sure to friend at least a few people every day and soon you will have hundreds of qualified connections who are interested to learn more about you!

STEP 3: Join Groups. Groups are where people congregate around an idea, an interest, a hobby, or a concern. Groups attract people of like mind and heart and offer ways for them to interact and communicate with each other. You can join groups and then look for ways to contribute to the members. See if you can answer questions or provide useful resources to the group members. Become known in your group and invite other group members to friend you. You can expand your network and your reputation this way.

STEP 4: Share Your Photos. Photos are the #1 activity on Facebook and folks spend a lot of time doing that. Make sure you have something to look at from various phases of your life, from childhood through school years and key events in your life. Make sure to have some recent photos so folks can see what you're up to now. If you are an artist, share pictures of your artwork too. Pictures are a great way to share what is important to you and help people to get to know you better.

STEP 5: Contribute Compelling Content on Your Wall. Whether you are sharing inspiring quotes, a song that moved you, educational videos, or your latest blog post, make sure whatever you put on your "Wall" is a reflection of what is truly important to you. Your postings will naturally be compelling to your friends when you are authentic. Interesting content will uplift and entertain your followers, and if they like it, they'll share it with others. Post your offerings occasionally but not all the time. Make sure to mix marketing with personal and inspirational contributions.

How do you feel right now?

Not many marketers will ask you this question because they don't think how you feel is at all important. Most people approach marketing from a stance of "what's wrong." They look at what is missing (not enough clients or sales for instance) and market from that perspective.

Law of Attracting is like gravity in the sense that it's always responding to vibration, and how you feel will indicate whether you are moving toward or away from what you desire, including your perfect customers.

So if you start your marketing campaign from "what's missing" and you feel pretty bad as you do it, your marketing campaign will not be successful. It is not successful because you are standing apart from the vibration of success which is where your perfect customers are waiting for you.

On the other hand, if you approach your marketing from the perspective of how much you love your product or service and how it will enhance the lives of people, and you feel good as you create blog posts, advertisements, tweets, and web copy, your campaign will successfully bring you into alignment with the perfect customers who are seeking you. Then like magic you will start receiving calls, emails, inquiries and comments from your peeps.

Your perfect customers can't notice you when you are not in alignment with your success. Not until you feel great and exude the love you feel for your offerings will they be drawn to you and notice you. When you are in that perfect vibration, they are attracted to you like a magnet!

You have been asking for a while to attract people to your offerings. The question is are you cooperating with what is already lined up for you, or not? Confidence: Why it's Your Greatest Business Asset

Have you noticed a lot of people are in fear these days?
They are falling prey to the negativity in the media and worrying about the state of the economy. They have heard about folks losing their jobs or have friends in some tight spaces. Even if they are still doing fine and earning what they always have, the current climate makes them feel insecure about the future.

Have you fallen prey to the fear factor? I'm asking because if you have, you are doing a disservice to your customers (and yourself). What they really need right now (and what you need too) is your confidence!

What is confidence? According to the web dictionary, confidence is "assurance: freedom from doubt, belief in yourself and your abilities, a feeling of trust, a state of confident hopefulness that events will be favorable." Can you begin to see how this is the quality your perfect customers are seeking in you?


No matter what your service or product, your customers want to know that you are confident it will help them with their problem or need. Imagine if you are exuding some element of fear yourself, will the customer buy? Probably not.

I remember one time when it dawned on me that my confidence would make the difference between signing a new client or not. I was in a meeting with a potential client at a time when I really needed the money. I had a choice of being needy or confident. I chose confident and so I cleared my mind of all fear and doubt and acted like I was the best person for the job in how I presented myself, how I spoke, and what I said. They hired me on the spot for a project that earned me upwards of $50,000.

Your confidence is a magnet that draws others to you. Your influence actually spreads hope and uplifts others. So build your confidence muscle and watch your business grow.

Still Tooling Around Online? We're Waiting for Your Message!

Magnetic Marketing Tips for Web-Shy Entrepreneurs

I talk to a lot of coaches, healers, and conscious entrepreneurs who tell me they don't like the web. Don't get me wrong, these are regular upstanding business people who are quite hip in a lot of ways. They just want to limit their time in front of the machine. They're concerned about their vibration and the electronic gadgetry makes them a bit uptight.

I understand. Really, I like to get outside and futz around with my garden and catch a few rays during the day. It's part of the benefits of being self employed. But I don't underestimate the power of the Internet to offer me this freedom to futz. I rely heavily on the Internet to attract my customers, and knowing what tools to use and when and how are vital keys to my business success.

Therefore, though I feel your pain and I want to pick the flowers too, I have to tell you that Internet marketing is no longer just an option. It is vital to your success. The key becomes using the Internet in ways that are fun and fulfilling to you and your life mission.

That said, there are some things you can do before you get online that will help you become a magical magnet for your perfect customers:

1) Clarify what you want. You will save a lot of time and frustration if you know who your perfect customers are. You share a lot in common because you are on the same path in life. You don't need to strategize too much, just notice what you are compelled to share about and write it down. Consider the challenges you can help people overcome. That's your true passion. Write about that!

Still Afraid of Social Networks? Top 4 Objections and How to Disappear Them

I have been giving a lot of talks and classes lately on Social Networking and I've been getting some feedback from folks that they're still afraid of the likes of Twitter and Facebook. There are so many reasons people have for avoiding these free online marketing tools. The ones I hear the most are:

1. I will lose my privacy.
2. I don't have the time to do one more thing.
3. People say meaningless things like what they're eating. Why do I care?
4. I don't understand how to use Social Networks to attract perfect customers.

I promise you, I feel your pain. I really do. There was once a time when I said all of these things about sites I now use daily to grow my list, create buzz about my offerings, and expand my reputation online. But instead of giving up, I investigated, spent time, learned, and used the social networks to great advantage. And even though everyone is talking about Twitter and Facebook now, most Internet marketers weren't even on these sites a few months ago. So relax! Everyone is new at this. And I'll give you some tips to disappear those objections you may still have to Facebooking and Tweeting your way to Internet marketing success.

Objection 1: I'll lose my privacy.

Frankly, my gut reaction to this objection is, "privacy is dead." Anyone who markets online is exposing themselves to the world in bigger ways than ever was possible before. There are great advantages to being this exposed, including improved reputation, expanded influence, and wider selection of potential customers. My second reaction is, "what do you have to hide?" I always promote an authentic approach to marketing because your most perfect customers are attracted to your true self. Social Networks offer your contacts an opportunity to get to know the real you, and if they don't like you, they're not your perfect customers! That said, it's a good idea to keep your personal information private, such as your personal email, home phone, and other info, if you don't want folks contacting you night and day. Create business contact avenues that you can turn off when the business day ends.

Objection 2: I don't have the time to do one more thing

Let me offer a scenario. Everyone in business needs to network to spread the word about their offerings and meet new contacts. How much time does it take to go to one networking meeting? Consider you have to get dressed up which takes about an hour, and then you must get to the event, say another half hour. The event is 2-3 hours, and then you have to drive home. That's a total of 4 - 5 hours! If you were to spend that time networking online you have the potential to reach a much larger audience, and your web properties will stay up for months or even years attracting your customers 24/7.

Objection 3: People say meaningless things like what they're eating. Why do I care?
This is a common complaint. You go to your network and feel inundated by nonsense. Here's a tip: If you don't like what people are writing about on your networks, you're not connecting to the right people. To attract the right people, do a keyword search using words that reflect your purpose and interests and connect with them! Search for groups of like minded people and friend them. After a while you'll find your networks filled with helpful tidbits and inspirations that uplift and educate you. Spend some time responding to those folks who have said something interesting and encourage them. Make sure you offer helpful and interesting information too, so it's not just a one way relationship!

Objection 4: I don't understand how to use Social Networks to attract my perfect customers.
You're not alone! Most people know how to have fun, connect, and chat with folks online once they get the hang of it, but attracting customers? That's a different story. Consider this: Dale Carnegie who wrote How to Win Friends and Influence People taught us that people will buy from us when they know us, like us and trust us. Making friends online is a crucial step in this process. The second step is in creatively letting them know about what you're offering for sale, and be authentic.

Considering Freedom

Today I am thinking about Freedom; Not just because it’s Independence Day, the day Americans on all sides of the political spectrum celebrate Revolution. And not just because Freedom forms the ideological foundation for our country that is celebrating it’s birthday today. It’s because I’m always thinking about Freedom. Freedom is part of what makes me tick.

Sing a ‘Song of Freedom’ and I’m likely to tear with gratitude. This is what I’ve based my life upon. All the decisions I ever made have had this at the core: Freedom. I guess that makes me a quintessential American (in addition to fact that I’m a descendant of two different American Revolutionaries, Roger Sherman and Jesse Leavenworth of Connecticut.)

“Give Me Liberty of Give Me Death,” I would have said, but thank goodness I haven’t have to take it to that extreme. Today I am deeply grateful for those who have come before me and blazed a trail for my Freedom. My life has always been a free expression of creativity, love and magic. I am thankful that I have the freedom to learn about, experience, and teach others the power of deliberate creation; How we are creating our lives through our thoughts, a teaching that in another time or another place would be condemned as blasphemy.

Can I interest you in considering your Freedom today? Perhaps it’s something you’ve been taking for granted, or perhaps you have been fearing the political tide would take our Freedom away. Either way, now is a great time to appreciate the Freedom we have, and to indulge in visions of Freedom for All.
