How to Have a Vibration Raising Long Weekend!

I hope you're planning to take Monday (Columbus Day) off to raise your vibration. You're not fooling me. I know you have been very busy, working hard to get your business really rolling. And I bet you started thinking about fitting some work in on Monday when the phones won't be ringing as much and you'll have some space to catch up.

Just don't do it! You deserve the break and the rest. And in fact, if you spend the day focusing on what feels good to you, and follow your intuition, you will be much closer to receiving what you've been wanting. Feeling good is that important to your success.

So if you need something to do on Monday that will lure you away from your work and yet be practical for your business, here are some Vibration Raising Activities for you. And you can tell your gremlins that I gave you permission to play hookie and do this instead of that work project you were trying to finish.

Vibration Raising Activities:

1) Take yourself on an "Artists Date": Julia Cameron who wrote "The Artists Way" came up with this idea, to take yourself on a date and do whatever fuels your creative juices and makes you feel good. It's just about having fun with yourself and doing whatever your intuition tells you would be fun for you. I like going alone to movies I'd love but my husband would hate, going to art shows or galleries and soaking in the brilliance of the artist, or just window shopping at beautiful boutiques along Main Street.

2) Give yourself a Spa Day: Start the day with a hot bubble bath with essential oils and candles. Relax to your favorite music and allow your mind to get still. Guide your thoughts to whatever pleases you. Enroll someone in giving you a massage (if it pleases them). Wander mindfully through a garden or path in nature. Breathe in the fresh air. Consider what would be most relaxing for you and do that. If it looks like watching cartoons in your PJ's and slippers, sipping hot tea, then so be it. Whatever rolls your socks up and down, as my friend says. (Thanks for that one Mary)

3) Do a Fun Project Around the House: If you really love to be productive and that's what gets you in the right vibration, do a project around the house. Lately I've been creating a stone patio in my new back yard (where the pool used to be that we demolished this summer). It gets me out of my regular work mind and into a playful creative mind when I work on that project. And the results are really rewarding. As long as it's not related to your money making job, I say it's OK to do on a holiday.

How to Attract Clients Fast:: More Tips!

If you want to attract clients fast, there are some important strategies that can help you allow your perfect customers to flow to you. The most important of these strategies is creating and refining your Strategic Attraction PlanTM.

Most of you have created an Attraction Plan once or twice, but you haven't been updating your Plan as you and your business grow and change. Whenever I want results fast, I create a new Attraction Plan from scratch to get the exact right feeling into it, and then I refine my plan for five minutes or more every morning and every night until I see the results I want.

Recently I used this process
to attract several large branding and website design clients. I had over $10,000 in new contracts within a week.

All the great mentors of the last century have reminded us that manifestation begins in the realm of thought. We must think about the results we want if we desire to achieve those results in the real world. It is important for us to line up with and expect what we want, and clarifying our desires is the first step.

The Strategic Attraction Plan that I mastered during a certification program offered by Perfect Customers, Inc is the most effective tool I've found for attracting clients fast. Take about an hour to create your plan from scratch, and then you want to take about 5 - 10 minutes to refine it daily.

The Strategic Attraction PlanTM

Answer these questions as fully as possible. Leave a few blank pages between each question to allow room to add to and refine your plan over time.

Question 1: What are the qualities, characteristics and attributes of my perfect customers?
Question 2: What makes me and my perfect customers tick?
Question 3: What do I want my perfect customers to expect from me.
Question 4: Who do I have to be to attract what I say I want?

A Kinder, Gentler Social Networking Strategy

by Julia D. Stege, MFA

"How do I start marketing on Social Networks?"

That's what a lot my peeps have been asking me lately. They feel a bit overwhelmed by all the options, and yet they know Social Networks are becoming as important as a website (if not more important) to their marketing campaigns. They hear buzz about Twitter, Facebook and other popular sites, but they don't know the best strategies for using them.

The bottom line really is they don't want to waste a lot of time learning and using these sites if it's not going to bring them clients. And they know if they put out a lot of hype like some internet marketers these days, their customers will run away rather than be attracted in.
So how to use Social Networks to attract clients without being obnoxious?

First you want to clarify your unique message. The biggest mistake many solopreneurs make is looking at what others in their industry are saying and doing and copying them. When you're just getting started, it's smart to know what your 'competitors' are doing, but you don't want to be just like them. You want to stand out. How to do that?

Ask yourself "What makes me tick?"

Do you know that what makes you and your perfect customers tick is aligned, simpatico, a match? The Law of Attraction says "like attracts like." When you define what is most important to you, your mission and message, you are distinguishing what makes you compelling and attractive to others. When you relate your core life mission with your business offerings, you have a message to share with the world.

Then, choose one Social Network to play around on. I suggest Facebook to start, because many of your friends, family and colleagues are already on Facebook and you can connect with them and start sharing what is important to you. Make sure you don't just post business messages. Include caviats from your day, what you're grateful for, what you're really thinking about, what you're doing. People want to know the real you, so be authentic. When it comes time to market your event or services, people will actually be interested in your offering because they're interested in you.

Add new social networks as you are ready.

Each of the networks like Twitter, Blogger, LinkedIn and YouTube, have different 'personalities' and different strategies for how to attract your peeps. Go on these sites and explore. Create profiles and invite friends and start building your followings.

Social Network marketing experts suggest spending a minimum of 2 hours per week building online relationships, and 6+ hours if you want to master online marketing.

Fear or Love? Choose!

a tip for attracting customers fast!
by Julia D. Stege, MFA

The economy is changing, this we all know. Some will look at it as a bad thing, and others will see it as an opportunity to acheive what they've never before been able to.

What's the difference between these two attitudes? Just a choice. One is a choice to be in fear and another is a choice to be in love with life.

Recently I was listening to the news by mistake and I heard some scary stuff. I'll spare you the details but suffice it to say, I felt rather tense afterward. I noticed as I lay in bed that night that I was having thoughts like "What if I never get a client again?"

I knew this was a disempowering thought and that if I were to entertain it too long, I would start manifesting in that direction. So instead I began to think about what I love about my work and the people I serve (that would be you guys.) I mused over the positive effect I have on people and the ways I get to help.

I got into the vision and imagined people I'll get to serve in the future. I thought about helping them get in touch with their purpose. I could hear their glee as they discover their Magical Keywords or start using Social Networks for the first time. I saw tears of happiness in their eyes as they watched the unveiling of their new Wildly Attractive Website. I immediately felt better and right away that week I was signing new customers, forgetting all about my worrisome thoughts.

Answer these questions to start attracting clients now:

  1. What do you love about what you do?

  2. What do you do that really makes a difference for others?

  3. What things do your grateful clients say to you?
Muse about that next time you feel shaky about the uncertainty of life. Close your eyes and imagine profoundly helping people. Feel the feeling of it and before you know it you will be attracting the people who need your services now. (Make sure to imagine them paying you handsomely too!)

Is Blogging Really Worth It?

by Julia D. Stege, MFA
@magicalmarketer

A lot of people ask me if I think they really should be blogging. They've heard that everyone is doing it but they really don't know if it's important. After all, it takes a lot of time (so they think) and energy to blog, and anyway, they don't really know how to do it. Isn't it a big learning curve? And is it really worth all that effort?

I can relate. When you don't know how to do something, it can seem daunting when you think about it. And when you go online to check out all the blogs, it's overwhelming. You start to wonder, are people in your industry blogging regularly, and is it helping their business?

You know what I'm going to say, though, don't you? You know I'm going to say yes it's important to blog and yes it's totally worth it. But I want to say this in a comforting way that helps you to get started almost effortlessly.

So first, you need to know why it's important to blog.

In these times, people are very careful about where they spend their money. They want to know you, like you and trust you before they hire you. (OK, I got that from Dale Carnegie who wrote that about 100 years ago, but it's even more true today!) A blog is a great way for them to get a feel for how you think. When you share what you care about on your blog, you provide a window into your true self that helps your perfect customers feel confident about hiring you.

Statistically, blogging is becoming a central feature in any marketing campaign. Check out these stats to discover why:

  • Blogging grew 68% in 2008
  • 346 million people worldwide read blogs
  • 77% of active web users read blogs
  • 184 million people say they’ve started a blog

OK, so everyone's doing it and your customers want to get to know you and a blog is a great place to do that. But is it really that easy to set up a blog?

Admittedly some folks will need help, but it's my suggestion that you go to www.Blogger.com (Google's free blog site) and experiment. If you make a mistake you can delete it and start over. You can fiddle around and learn something new (which is good for the brain anyway!) Then send me your link (or post it here on this blog) and I'll be happy to celebrate with you (and give you good feedback, too.) The old cliche is that you can't know until you try it!

You also may want to listen to my free teleclass called "What the Bleep to Blog About to Attract Perfect Customers (and Where and Why, too!)" It will help you to become blogging experts! You can learn more about the class and register at http://www.graphicgirlz.com/freeapco.html. See you then!

How to Fall in Love with Marketing

by Julia D. Stege, MFA
@magicalmarketer

Remember that feeling of excitement you had when your second grade teacher asked you want you wanted to be when you grew up? Just imagining having a real job or career was thrilling and full of possibility.

I believe that those of us who start our own businesses have maintained a child-like sense of adventure in our lives. But when it comes to marketing, that excitements dampens and many of us get downright sullen!

I'd be willing to bet the reason you think marketing is a drag is that you don't look at marketing the way I do, as an opportunity to share what is most important to you with the people you love the most in the world.

Are you willing to shift your view of what marketing can be for you?

Here are some easy steps to follow to begin to fall in love with your marketing and attract your most perfect customers while you're at it.

1) Tap in to your passion. What do you really love about life? Get out a pad of paper and write stream of consciousness about what fills your heart with joy.

2) Feel into what your customers are dealing with and how you can help them. Remember the experience of really helping someone with your offering? Write down some of the things you said that inspired or helped them the most.

3) Take a look at what you wrote in #1 and #2 and see if you can make a connection. For instance, if you love nature and you are a business consultant, see if you can relate the lessons of a walk in the woods to the guidance you gave your perfect customers that helped them have a breakthrough in their business.

Thinking about what you love most in life, and remembering the high points in your work day simultaneously creates the joyous foundation for articles, sales pages, blog posts and tweets that are distinct, meaningful and authentic.

Try this process and post your results to this blog in the comments section. Let's start a movement of marketing that inspires!

Guest Column by Ali Brown "The E-Zine Queen"

"5 Ways to Keep Learning and Growing - Even on a Tight Budget"
by Ali Brown

I recently received a long letter from one of my readers - whom I'll call "Amy" -- that went something like this, "Ali, I see you're now charging beaucoup bucks for your coaching programs and to mentor with you. No question you are worth thousands of dollars to work with! But I feel really stuck. You see, I am down to my last dime. You emphasize how important it is to keep learning and growing... and to have a mentor, but how can someone like me do this when there's no money to invest?"

Ah yes, Amy, believe me, I remember what that was like. In fact, things got so bad when I first started my business back in New York 10 years ago that there was one evening I couldn't even take out $20 from the ATM. (And even if I did have cash to spend, I didn't know where to find a mentor anyway.)

So what's a girl to do when she's on a budget?

Answer: Learn all she can within her means.

While in-depth courses and high-level mentorship programs deliver a complete plan for those who are ready to invest and move forward quickly, don't forget about tried and true low-budget learning options. The five I list below are surely nothing new, but often times we forget they are here for the taking! The only trick is you have to motivate yourself.

1. Books.

Yes, books. Remember books?
There are millions of helpful and educational books out there. Both new ones in bookstores and used ones at the library. Ones to inspire you, to motivate you, to help you think differently, and delivering specific steps to grow yourself and your business. Spend a rainy afternoon in a Borders or Barnes & Noble with a coffee and see what strikes your fancy. Or finally get that local library card and see what they have to offer in their business and self help sections. Bonus: Most libraries also carry CDs and DVDs that they rent for free or a low fee, and usually you'll be able to find several educational titles.

2. Free ezines and reports.

Search your topic of business online and you're bound to find tons of free online information and many in the form of ezine subscriptions and reports. From marketing to moneymaking, from advertising to finding clients, if you search for it you will find it.

Just know these media - being free - are typically more introductory information and used as lead generators. But good content can surely be found!

3. Free teleseminars and webinars.

Along the same lines, many experts are also hosting free teleseminars and webinars day and night around the globe. All you need to participate is a phone or an Internet connection. From business training to personal development - search and you will find as well! As with free ezines and reports, you can learn a lot from these events, but just expect a sales offer during the session.

4. Free and low-cost live seminars.

Even adult education classes via organizations such as the Learning Annex are great to get started. Even though they usually feature very basic info, I've found these classes are still good to help reboot your brain and give you some new ideas to walk away with.

If you live in a major city you can also almost always find free or low-cost seminars to attend as well, if you keep your eyes and ears open. But remember, the hosts of these events aren't non-profits! Expect a sales invitation to buy their products or enroll in a program. Just realize this upfront as you go in and graciously decline should you choose not to take advantage. [Julia Stege the Magical Marketer offers a free teleclass series on how to attract customers on social networks.]

5. Lower-priced information products and programs.

If you can't afford a live mentor, how about one in a box? That's how I started! And I admit it was even from a TV infomercial.

Back when I had finally quit my last job 10 years ago, I was lost and frustrated. I had started my business but was down to just a few hundred dollars in my bank account. One late night I was up and turned on the TV and saw an infomercial for Tony Robbins' "Personal Power II". (Funny enough, I could barely see it on the screen since I couldn't afford cable TV and was watching it via old-fashioned rabbit ears.)

If I remember correctly, the product was $179 at the time. That was a huge stretch for me, and I opted for the payment plan. And when those cassettes arrived (yes, I got the cassettes because they were cheaper than the CDs), I dove into them like a box of chocolates! Tony became my virtual mentor as his voice of encouragement, showing me how to think big, was played in my ears every day while I rode the subway.

If you're not growing, you're dying

Remember that not having cash to invest in your business is no excuse to sit on your bum. There's a great saying, "God helps those who help themselves." Having money isn't a prerequisite to step forward to grow and become your best. The only requirement to your stepping into your greatness is your true desire to do so.
