Social Networking for Dummies ~ Free Teleclass

Never Fear, the Fairy Godmother of Social Networking is Here

Once upon a time, Social Networks were for kids. You knew about them only from the teenagers in your life who wanted to tell the world about their favorite song, or who was dating who, or what happened on their fav TV show last night. You felt comfortable ignoring the Social Media because you had work to do and no time for that kid stuff.

Then one day you woke up and everyone in the marketing world was shouting from the rooftops about how Web 2.0 was the wave of the future. Suddenly everyone was talking about it. "Social Networks?" you said. "Aren't they for kids?" But this time you got the blank stare instead of the knowing nod. That stare said you were a Social Networking Dummy. You were behind the times and missing out on something BIG.

And big it is. Hundreds of millions of people are flooding the Social Networks and those with marketing saavy are reducing their marketing budgets while increasing their marketing reach. They tout their Twitter Follower numbers and Facebook Saavy, and brag about getting to page one of Google. "How can I get in on this?" you wondered.

You gave in at that point, and you joined a couple of the networks and watched as a stream of seemingly meaningless chatter appeared on your pages from people you didn't know... people sharing what they had for dinner, what happened on the latest episode of "Idol", and what their favorite bands from the 80s were. " How can this possibly help my business?" you thought. "And who can help me find out?"

So you looked around for someone to help who understands you, your important mission, and your Social Media predicament. But all you found were some hard-core hype peddlers. These folks may have known a lot about marketing, but they weren't Conscious Entrepreneurs like you. They had marketing success, but they didn't seem to care a whip about what they were selling or how it was impacting the world (much less the planet.) You tried studying their programs but they just made you feel worse, overwhelmed, and even more like a Social Networking Dummy.

So you closed your eyes and prayed. Yes, what a wonderful idea. That always worked in the past. "Please send me somebody I can trust who can teach me the basics," you whispered, "someone I can relate to who can help me magically attract my perfect customers online."

Then POOF, along came the Fairy Godmother of Social Networking carrying a magic wand, and she sprinkled Fairy Dust on your head.

Suddenly your Twitter numbers leaped into the thousands, and on Facebook your Fan Page was flocked. People read your blogs and praised you for enhancing their lives. Your phone line buzzed with requests from perfect customers who cried with joy and exclaimed, "I can't believe I finally found you! You are the one I have been seeking."

Do you want to know how this Fairy Tale turns out? Even more importantly, do you want to know what is in that Fairy Dust?

The Joy Factor ~ Marketing is Meant to be Fun

by Julia D. Stege, MFA

In traditional marketing there wasn't a lot of room for joy. What with all that 'lack mentality,' competition, targeting people, innundating and brainwashing, true joy didn't have room to breathe, not for the marketer nor for the customer. That paradigm for marketing wasn't really about joy, fulfillment, or contribution at all. It was about selling something to someone who didn't want it. It took a lot of work and there was quite a lot of stress involved.

But we know better now. As conscious entrepreneurs, we know there is no competition, and we know that what we are seeking is also seeking us. Those most perfect customers for us are out there looking for what we have to offer. We don't need to brainwash them. They really want it, and they know because their intuition told them and has guided them to look for us. They will never recognize us, though, if we are operating out of any of those old paradigms of lack and competition. They will only recognize us when we are expressing our true joy to the world through our marketing.

So what is it about your business that most brings you joy?

It is so important that we feel joy every day, and that includes while we are marketing. If you have fears about what to say to promote your business, if you worry about not being professional enough or not having the right message, please let that all go and focus on why you are doing your business to begin with. What aspects of what you do are most fun and uplifting for you? It's likely that what you love to do has a positive effect on others too. And when you are genuinely having fun, people can tell, and your perfect customers will flock to you.

Share that! Whether you are writing your new web copy, or creating a blog post, or writing a short tweet to your social networks, make it something that is fun and fulfilling for you. Dig inside of your heart to find your passion and get your message out to the world. Just like life, marketing is meant to be fun!

Five Attractive Facebook Photo Ideas

One of the most fun applications on Facebook is the Photo App. Facebook makes it easy to upload, append, organize and tag all your photos, and to determine who gets to see them. Photos are a great way to interact with people and show off your stuff. Here are five fun ways I use photos to attract attention!

1) Display Your Artwork: If you are an artist, a photographer or a designer, create a portfolio of your work and make sure everyone can see it. I have created a portfolio of designs in my photo albums and when I tag my clients in them, the picture shows up on their wall. They love it, and the pictures get seen by a broader audience. It's truly an interactive portfolio. I update the album occasionally to keep my work fresh on folks minds, advertise an upcoming launch, etc.

2) Pictures of Colleagues from Events: If you go to events and see Facebook friends there, take pics of them and post them in your albums. This is a fun way to follow up with folks after a great event and keep the feeling alive. Make sure to tag your friends so the pic shows up on their wall too. If other folks like the pic and comment on it, the photo will circulate to a larger audience.

3) Pictures from the Past: If you have great pictures from the past, it's a fun thing to post them and tag your friends. Everyone loves to see the old pics and your old friends will be happy you remembered them and they'll be touched that you cared enough to keep the pictures all these years.

4) Updating Your Profile Pic: Upload several profile pictures and swap them once in a while to stay on folks minds. Whenever you update your profice pic you will appear on all your friends' walls, and you'll be on their mind. It's a simple way to nudge folks without having to write anything.

5) Pictures from Your Current Life: Your old friends want to know what you're up to now, and your clients and colleagues love to hear about what's going on in your life. Satisfy their curiosity with pictures of your house, your neighborhood, places you've travelled to. You can also post pics from your own workshops, events, booths, and other activities you do to promote your biz. Let people know what a wonderful life you lead and they'll always be curious to learn more about you.

What Do You Really Want?

Some Questions to Help You Attract Rather Than React

Are you too focused on what's happening right now in your business to think about what you really want? Sometimes when work gets busy and I'm putting out fires and getting stuff done, the next thing I know it's the end of the day and I have excercise and dinner to think about. Does this happen to you? So when do you get think about what you really want long enough to create it? I often ask myself this very question.

All the great mentors of the last century have reminded us that manifestation begins in the realm of thought. We must think about the results we want if we desire to achieve those results in the real world. It is important for us to line up with and expect what we want, and clarifying our desires is the first step.

Here are some questions you can sit down and answer to direct your intention toward what you want. Feel free to post your answers in the comments section below so we can all hold your intentions with you.

What kinds of customers do you want to attract?

What are they like?

What do they say to you?

How do they find you?

What is your experience working with them?

What services and/or products do you love to offer to them?

How many customers do you desire to work with every month?

What resources do you desire for the fulfillment of your business goals?

What kind of income do you want to attract?

What is your desired experience of life?

What else do you want?

Do You Love Blogging Yet?

Blogging from the Heart is Fun, Fulfilling and Attracts Perfect Customers

Are you blogging yet, or are you just resisting the inevitable? Remember the olden days when you didn't even have to have a website to be considered a real business? Those days are way gone. So now that you (hopefully) have a great website that truly speaks your passion and attracts your perfect customers, you thought maybe you could sit back and field calls all day?

Well, that *could* happen, and I do believe in magic, but truth be told, most people have to market their websites if they want to attract perfect customers from the web. Blogging and bookmarking your posts from social networks is the #1 way to improve your site ranking and create site popularity, so put on your blogging hat!

Discovering Your Magical Keywords

If we must blog, and blog as often as possible (Google rewards fresh, new content) then we want to blog in a way that is fun and fulfilling for us. Also, since we are concerned with being recognized by our most perfect customers, we want to be sure to share what is most important to us, and to use keywords that are not only logical descriptions of our offerings, but also reflective our our mission and message. We understand that our perfect customers are attracted by our unique flair.

Using our chosen keywords in a variety of blog posts and linking to and from our websites will help our ranking for those words. When we choose words reflective of our purpose, blogging becomes a fulfilling and even transformative process that connects us with our life purpose and attracts our most perfect customers to us.

What Makes You Tick?

I suggest that you tap into what really makes you tick, and relate that to your offering in writings directed to your perfect customers. It's not all about selling your products and services, it's about connecting with other people of like mind and like heart and exploring how you can contribute to each other. These are the kinds of connections that foster positive, conscious business relationships. When you think about the result of your blog post, how you will be helping people with authentic shares about things you feel are important, then blogging becomes a fun medium for self exploration.

I am asking you to blog your heart out, my friends. Blog far and wide and create a niche for yourself that is reflective of your true life mission, then watch that telephone light up with your most perfect customers.
